The Mixtrack Pro 3 has been a go-to for beginners, and at $259 it's still a solid value. You get 8 pads, a built-in sound card, USB power, and compatibility with Serato and Virtual DJ. The jog wheels are illuminated, and the mic input is useful. The 24-bit/44.1 kHz audio is decent. My main issue: the 44.1 kHz max sampling rate is a bit low for pro use, and it's USB powered which can limit performance with some laptops. But for the price, it's a reliable starter controller.
